GOPELC closing session took place at the Lebanese University, central administration building, museum place, on October 8th 2018 in the presence of the project coordinator, the Erasmus+ office coordinator, the General Director of Higher Education in Lebanon, the EU delegation representative. The event was conducted under the high patronage of his excellency Prof. Fouad Ayoub, Rector of the Lebanese University.
The event was attended by representatives of all the consortium members, faculty members, staff, students enrolled in the new master program and students that are potential candidates for the master program. Professionnals in the field of Oil and Gas attended the meeting also where the project results were disseminated to the different stakeholders.
GOPELC aims to design, develop and implement a new curriculum programme in the field of Gas and Oil Engineering in a joint effort between EU and partner countries universities. This new programme is in perfect alignment with the Bologna process requirements. This new programme will result in a joint effort between three EU universities: Universitatea Petrol Si Gaze Ploiesti (UPG, Romania), Kungliga Tekniska Hoegskolan (KTH, Sweden), Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Mines De Saint-Etienne (EMSE, France) and four Lebanese Universities: Lebanese University (LU), Notre Dame University (NDU) , University Of Balamand (UOB) and Beirut Arab University (BAU). The Directorate General of Higher Education (DGHE ) in Lebanon is an associate partner in this project.
The new Master programme developped within GOPELC framework provided qualified professional resources capable of sustaining and managing the oil and gas industry development in their home country and abroad. Students enrolled in th new master program will learn new and advanced tools for gas and oil processing and environmental sustainability.
For this purpose, GOPELC organized five workshops and two webinars to train the trainers and to transfer the best practices of EU partners in the field of Oil and Gas processing to the Lebanese academic faculty members. 30 Faculty members of the EU partner universities were involved in the course material preparation and workshop delivering. 55 faculty members from the 4 Lebanese universities partner of the project were trained by those workshops and webinars. 28 students enrolled in the new master program performed an internship term in the EU partner universities and in Oil and Gas industries with a total number of months of 32.
